2018 Spring CS Rendezvous at Pt. Browning
The weather was balmy as 33 friends (and soon-to-be friends) on 15 CS boats converged on Pt. Browning for the 21st Spring Rendezvous.
Judy and Cliff, the event organizers, left Dinner Bay on Mayne Island a day early, stopping for lunch at the Saturna Pub (highly recommended), and then on to Pt. Browning. We were warmly greeted again by Aaron, the Marina Manager, and Natasha who went over rendezvous details with us. On Wednesday, all the boats started arriving from Bellingham, Nanaimo, Victoria, Ladysmith, Delta, Vancouver, and points in between. |

Happy Hour - It's Five O'Clock Somewhere....
Wednesday Happy Hour was under the tent on the lawn. Thanks to everyone for bringing appies to share. Delicious! It was great to see "old" friends again as well as meet our newest members: Jean and Gian from Delta, and Richard and Donna from Oregon (!!)

Thursday morning Tai Chi led by Jeff and Maria
What a peaceful way to start the morning by the ocean and with a group of friends. Thanks Jeff & Maria. Part of the CS Rendezvous tradition now. We counted 18 members doing Tai Chi. No photos here because the photographers were also doing Tai Chi.

Bocce Tournament
Craig informed me that this was the "National" Bocce Tournament, not to be mistaken for the "International" Bocce Tournament held at our Fall Rendezvous. The International Bocce Tournament is for the Ron Drain trophy. More about that in the fall.
Congratulations to Craig and Jeff, winners of the National Bocce Tournament!

Kayaking led by Nancy and Graham
The water was a bit rough so Nancy and Graham went out by themselves for a paddle. Hopefully next time the weather will cooperate.

Thursday Buffet and Entertainment in the Bistro
Pt. Browning has done a beautiful job with this addition with its bar, retractable roof, and great marina views. Thanks, Natasha, for looking after us. Our Commodore, Kathie, welcomed everyone and introduced our newest members. The evening entertainment turned out to be a team game where each team had to identify the singers of nautical songs that were played through the speaker. To make it a bit more challenging, only part of each song was played. In the end, there was a 3 way tie for first place and the winning team was determined by a draw. Prize winners were Team Delta captained by Nancy. Team members also included Craig, Lynne, Bob, and Jack. The special prizes were packages of nautical napkins with individual mini-bottles of Baileys! Thanks also to Yvonne for buying door prizes and selling the tickets. |
