About Us
CS Yacht Owners West was founded in 1997. We are a group of boaters primarily from the Pacific Northwest, who race and/or cruise CS (originally, "Canadian Sailcraft") sailboats (CS 27, 33, and 36T designed by Ray Wall, and the CS 30, 34, 36M and CS 40 designed by Tony Castro. We also welcome owners of the Quanta, a 28 ft. sailboat designed by Ray Wall.
Next planned activity: Spring rendezvous will be held in Maple Bay Marina. Arrival is Wednesday May 27 after 1 PM, departure is Friday May 29 at 12 noon. Shake out the winter cobwebs from your boat and your mind and sail on down!
Who are we?
CS Yacht Owners West (known generally as CS West) is an association of, primarily, Pacific Northwest boaters who race and/or cruise CS sailboats (27, 30, 33, 34, 36T, 36M and 40) and who wish to participate in the benefits of an association of boat owners with similar interests.
Why are we?
The club was formed for like minded people to:
Where and when do we meet?
Every spring and fall, usually May and Sept., we hold rendezvous at various marinas around southern BC. Members take turns planning and organizing them. An AGM is held yearly during the spring rendezvous. There is a rendezvous charge of $10.00/person which helps the club cover costs such as pavilion rental and provided treats.
Every November we have an information day, often a tour of a marine related industry, and a dinner at Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club with a guest speaker.
Mini rendezvous happened during the boating season, whenever 2 or more CS boats are found in the same location.

Why are we?
The club was formed for like minded people to:
- promote support and friendship among members and share experiences.
- provide a source of technical information for CS boaters generally.
- brainstorm solutions to common problems, and learn how other members have solved issues.
- inspire one another with modifications done on individual boats.
- access member only group discussion board and all member email list.

Anatomy of a Rendezvous
The evening kicks off with shared appetizers, which are usually delicious and filling enough to not warrant supper.
It then carries on to old and new friends catching up and sharing sailing yarns.
Depending on the location of the rendezvous, a walk to relieve the stress of Bocci can lead to beautiful views
Everyone convenes late afternoon for the Tech Talk. This is one of the most important reasons for CS owners to attend the rendezvous. Lots of questions and answers about our CS boats. This may be an outside speaker talking about their area of expertise, ie electrical, heating, engines or other. Another time it may be a group discussion on anchors and anchoring, best supply places, bilge problems, etc. Usually, boaters come away feeling empowered to try something new, or see a solution to a problem they have been having.
Then there is always the time that the spotlight was on Musashi, one of "our" CS 30 sailboats, owned by Jack and Marilyn Williams. Musashi was reviewed in Good Old Boat magazine by Bert Vermeer. At our rendezvous, owners Jack and Marilyn, as well as writer, Bert Vermeer shared their boating and writing experiences.
Dinner follows, usually we have the use of the marina BBQ, sailors bring their own protein to cook and CS West provides salads and sides and sometimes dessert. Depending on the location, there may be a restaurant instead, where we all meet for dinner.
Just when you think the day has been long enough, you may be roped into a game of Left, Right, Centre, hoping to win all the quarters that have accumulated in the centre.
