Hi Everyone,
What a great rendezvous! Great turnout, mostly good weather and lots of fun things to do. Many thanks to Judy Kiyooka - and Cliff - for organizing all of this for us. Your time and hard work made for a great time by all.
What a great rendezvous! Great turnout, mostly good weather and lots of fun things to do. Many thanks to Judy Kiyooka - and Cliff - for organizing all of this for us. Your time and hard work made for a great time by all.
We started with the usual fabulous feast of Happy Hour on Tues. Of course, it had been very nice until 5:00 when the forecasted wind did arrive and there was a little bit of blowing about. No problem, we had a great visit and as usual, we didn’t need any dinner…. Yvonne once again did a great job of selling tickets for the gift basket which was won by John on Farfetch.
Wednesday morning started off with Tai Chi with Maria and Jeff. They are so good! That was followed by a rousing game of Left Centre Right but the game we used didn’t have a “C” - it had a star - but the meaning was the same. Roll a * and your quarter went into the pot. Angela, who had been out of the game for quite a while, won the pot, proving the point that you aren’t out until the game is over.
After lunch we convened for a team challenge. And a challenge it was. It certainly emphasized the value of reading the newsletter and committing it to memory! Each captain and team had a list of questions to answer and that also included some math questions😬. No team got a perfect score but given all the captains were very long term members with very long term memories, the scores were pretty good! It was fun. Good job, Judy and Cliff!
We then continued the team challenge in the Bistro with each team having to come up with a story of great interest to all, with drama or humour -or both - alternate facts acceptable, to be presented by one member of the team. The story and the presentation were judged and awarded a prize. All the stories were good, had us laughing or smiling in sympathy - anyway all were good, so good now I can’t remember which team won…..
The Bistro wasn’t ready for our dinner but the marina staff stepped up to make our stay there as special as possible. We were able to use the Bistro for the wonderful slide presentation Cliff and Judy put together and the marina provided coffee and pastries on the house. Cliff and Judy and Stephanie went through our many photographs which Stephanie has very carefully stored in photo albums over the years. Cliff performed some magic to digitize the photos and there were photos from the very first rendezvous to recent events. A lot of work and we thank you very much! There were many quiet oohs and ahs as we meandered down memory lane, seeing some members as we were back then and remembering fellow boaters who are no longer with us. To quote Bob Dylan - “oh, but we were much older then, we’re younger than that now”.

The dinner was held in the Pub and we had the whole lower section. The staff were great and the meals offered were very good and great value. Judging by the volume level, everyone had a great visit.
